Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Steering column

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

2. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Diagnostic tool.

3. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

4. Removing

LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Remove :

• The driver’s airbag
• The steering wheel
• The steering-mounted controls assembly
• The lower trim (Under steering wheel)

Remove :

• Nut (2)
• The bolt (1)
• The steering lock

Uncouple the steering column from the power steering valve .

LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Unclip the electrical harness (at "a").

Move aside the electrical harness .

Remove :

• The bolts and nuts (3)
• The steering column (4)

5. Refitting

LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Refit :

• The steering column (4)
• The bolts and nuts (3)
• The steering lock
• The electrical harness

Clip the electrical harness (at "a").

CAUTION : Check that the valve stem respiration diaphragm (5) is clean : No grease, mud or object obstructing the holes of the respiration diaphragm (5).

Couple the steering column to the power steering valve .

LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR LEFT-HAND DRIVE AND ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Refit :

• The bolt (1)
• The new nut (2)
• The lower trim (Under steering wheel)
• The steering-mounted controls assembly
• The steering wheel
• The driver’s airbag

6. Additional operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

Calibrate the steering wheel angle sensor ; Using the diagnostic tool.
