Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Steering wheel

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

CAUTION : Before any intervention ; Put the wheels in the straight ahead position.

CAUTION : For any operation which requires uncoupling between the steering wheel and the wheels (steering wheel, control under the steering wheel, steering column, steering mechanism, etc.), ensure that the rotary switch of the control under the steering wheel is immobilised.

CAUTION : Disconnecting the connectors has to be done without exerting any stress on the electrical harnesses or the connectors (No pulling is allowed on the electrical harness).

"A" : left-hand drive.

"B" : right-hand drive.

3. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

Remove the driver’s airbag .

4. Removing

N.B. : (*) According to equipment.

5. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

CAUTION : Put the wheels in the straight ahead position.

CAUTION : Pass the horn and airbag connectors into the steering wheel opening ; Do not pull the connectors excessively ; Do not bend the electrical harnesses (curvature to be observed).

CAUTION : Apply some threadlock on the bolt (2).

N.B. : Calibrate the steering wheel angle sensor ; Using the diagnostic tool (if necessary).

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

6. Additional operations

Refit the driver’s airbag .

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

7. Check

Check the operation of the various equipment.
