1. Presentation
The purpose of this document is to indicate the procedure to be followed to calculate the ethanol content in the fuel tank.
2. Drawing a sample of fuel
Draw a 50 ml sample of fuel from the fuel tank.
Pour the sampled fuel into a 100 ml measuring cylinder.
3. Water / fuel mixture
Fill the measuring cylinder with 50 ml of water to reach precisely 100 ml.
The mixture separates into 2 volumes : The quantity of fluid "A" which rises to the surface is pure unleaded petrol present in the initial sample.
4. Estimating the ethanol content
"A" = 9 ml.
N.B. : Formula for calculating the ethanol content : Percentage of ethanol = (50 - "A") / 50 X 100.
