Peugeot 308: Precautions to be taken : Packing traction batteries

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

The electric vehicle Lithium-ion traction batteries are classified under code ONU 3480 (Lithium ion batteries) . This classification imposes obligations concerning the labelling, packing and conditions of transport of these traction batteries depending on the method of transport chosen (road, rail, sea or mixed). The obligations are subject to change at any time, refer to the current legislation.

ESSENTIAL : The packing container and traction battery assembly must be stored at an ambient temperature higher than 15°C.

ESSENTIAL : Do not store the packing container and traction battery assembly at a high level.

ESSENTIAL : The packing container and traction battery must be placed on a flat floor.

ESSENTIAL : Do not stack the packing container and traction battery assemblies.

The code ONU 3480 imposes approved packaging for transporting this type of battery.

The package consisting of the traction battery in the approved packaging must bear the following labels :

• Danger label : Dangerous material class 9 (Minimum dimensions 100x100 mm)
• Identification label : UN 3480 : Lithium ion batteries (Lithium-ion batteries)

4. Securing the traction battery

ESSENTIAL : Use suitable lifting tools (The traction battery weighs approximately 117,4 kg).

Method of operation :

• Position 3 sling eyes [0015] on the traction battery side fixings (1)
• Place 3 straps [0019] equipped with 3 shackles [0019] on the sling rings [0015]
• Hook the straps [0019] to the workshop crane

5. Packing a traction battery

5.1. Packaging of a safe traction battery

Use the packing containers received with the new traction batteries.

Pack the traction batteries in the same way as the traction batteries received.

5.2. Packaging of a traction battery which is not safe or is damaged

Definition of a traction battery which does not conform or is damaged :

• Traction battery identified by the manufacturer as faulty
• Traction battery which is damaged or significantly distorted
• Traction battery which is leaking fluid or gas
• Traction battery which has faults that cannot be diagnosed before it is transported to an inspection site
