ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

Nuts (Complete pedal bracket) 9
Nuts (Protector) 3

2. Tooling

Tool Reference Description

[0818-Z][CH-52288] Tool for unclipping the connection between the pedal bracket ball joint / Brake servo unit (Improvement of the tool [0818-Z] : Addition of a handle)

3. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Remove :

  • The dashboard
  • The heating unit

4. Removing the pedal bracket

Disconnect the connector for the accelerator pedal position sensor (at "a").

Unclip the electrical harness ‎ sheathing ‎(1) (at "b", "c", "d").

Move aside the electrical harness sheathing (1).

4.1. Brake switch

CAUTION : Remove the brake switch (2) (Before commencing the removal operation).

CAUTION : Check that the brake pedal is in the rest position and that it remains so throughout the operation.

Unclip :

  • The electrical harness (at "e")
  • The connector (at "f")

Remove the brake switch (2) .

4.2. Pedal bracket left-hand protector

Remove :

  • The nuts (4)
  • The pedal bracket left-hand protector (3)

4.3. Unclipping the ball joint connection from the braking system

CAUTION : Do not damage the bellows of the brake servo.

Move aside the tabs (at "g") ; Using the tool [0818-Z / CH-52288] (from below).

Hold tool [0818-Z / CH-52288] in place, pull gently on the brake pedal and disconnect the rod of the brake servo from the brake pedal.

4.4. Removing the pedal bracket (Continued)

Remove :

  • The nuts (5) and (6)
  • The pedal bracket assembly (7)

5. Refitting the complete pedal bracket

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

Tightening torques :

  • Pedal bracket
  • Power steering

5.1. Refitting the complete pedal bracket (Continued)

Refit :

  • The pedal bracket assembly (7)
  • The new nuts (6), (5)

5.2. Clipping the ball joint connection of the braking system

CAUTION : Position the brake servo rod in the clipping system of the brake pedal (at "g").

Couple the brake servo rod to the brake pedal by depressing the brake pedal.

CAUTION : Check that the brake pedal is locked on the rod of the brake servo (Gently pull and push on the pedal).

5.3. Refitting the complete pedal bracket (continued)

CAUTION : Check that the brake pedal is in the rest position throughout the brake lamp switch removal operation.

Refit :

  • The pedal bracket left-hand protector (3)
  • The new nuts (4)
  • The brake switch (2)

Clip :

  • The electrical harness (at "e")
  • The electrical connector (at "f")
  • The electrical harness sheathing (1) (at "b", "c", "d")

Reconnect the connector for the accelerator pedal position sensor (at "a").

Clip the electric harnesses next to the pedal bracket.

6. Operation on the accelerator pedal only

6.1. Removing the accelerator pedal only

Disconnect the connector for the accelerator pedal position sensor (at "a").

Remove :

  • The nuts (8)
  • The accelerator pedal (9)

6.2. Refitting the accelerator pedal only

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

Refit :

  • The accelerator pedal (9)
  • The new nuts (8)

Reconnect the connector for the accelerator pedal position sensor (at "a").

7. Operation on the brake pedal only

7.1. Removing the brake pedal

Remove :

  • Nut (11)
  • The bolt (10)

Remove the safety clip (13) on the lever rod.

CAUTION : Pivot the brake pedal (12) on the shaft (14) by approximately 90° anticlockwise to align the windows (at "b" and "c").

Remove :

  • The shaft (14)
  • The brake pedal (12)

7.2. Check (Before refitting)

CAUTION : Check that the new white shouldered rings (16) and the spacers (15) are present.

7.3. Refitting the brake pedal

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

Refit :

  • The brake pedal (12)
  • The shaft (14)
  • The safety clip (13) on the lever rod
  • The new bolt (10)
  • The new nut (11)

8. Additional operations

ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Refit :

  • The heating unit
  • The dashboard

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).
