Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Brake servo unit

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Parts which must always be replaced

INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

2. Tooling

Tool	Reference	Description
	[0818-Z][CH-52288]	Tool for unclipping the connection between the pedal bracket ball joint / Brake servo unit (Improvement of the tool [0818] : Addition of a handle)

3. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

CAUTION : Remove the brake lamp switch (Before performing any operation).

CAUTION : Check that the brake pedal is in the rest position and that it remains so throughout the operation.

Remove the brake switch .

4. Removing

CAUTION : Do not damage the bellows of the brake servo.

Move aside the tabs (at "a") ; Using the tool [0818-Z / CH-52288] (from below).

Hold tool [0818-Z / CH-52288] in place, pull gently on the brake pedal and disconnect the rod of the brake servo from the brake pedal.

MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

Remove :

• The nuts (1)
• The pedal bracket (Brake pedal)
• The ancillaries battery and its support
• The master-cylinder

Uncouple :

• The braking circuit vacuum sensor
• Relative braking vacuum sensor

INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN

Remove :

• The nuts (1)
• The pedal bracket (Brake pedal)
• The ancillaries battery and its support
• The master-cylinder

Uncouple :

• The brake servo unit vacuum pipe
• The braking circuit vacuum sensor from the brake servo (depending on equipment)

Remove the brake servo unit (2).

5. Refitting

INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

CAUTION : Each time it is refitted, take care not to damage the protective bellows of the brake servo.

MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

Refit :

• The seals (new)
• The brake servo unit (2)
• The pedal bracket
• The nuts (1) (new)

Couple up :

• The braking circuit vacuum sensor
• Relative braking vacuum sensor

Refit :

• The master-cylinder
• The ancillaries battery and its support

INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN

Refit :

• The seal (new)
• The brake servo unit (2)
• The pedal bracket
• The nuts (1) (new)
• The braking circuit vacuum sensor from the brake servo (depending on equipment)

Couple the vacuum pipe on the brake servo.

Refit :

• The master-cylinder
• The ancillaries battery and its support

Couple the brake servo rod to the brake pedal by depressing the brake pedal.

CAUTION : Check that the brake pedal is in the rest position and that it remains so throughout the operation.

6. Additional operations

Refit the brake switch .

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

Fill and bleed the braking circuit .
