This bulletin presents all the technical information required by authorised repairers and new vehicle and replacement parts distributors for the launch of the new MB6 manual gearboxes.

This bulletin must be presented and distributed in each dealership of the network by each department manager.

The manual gearbox MB6 :

• Is a manual gearbox with 6 speeds and reverse gear
• Is designed for the DV and EB engine families
• Is intended for the entire global market
• Was designed internally by PSA and is assembled in Valenciennes (France)
• Includes many components in common with the BE manual gearbox

N.B. : The coupling unit on the MB6 manual gearbox is a double damping flywheel (ADF).

There is no specific training for the MB6 manual gearbox as it has no special features in comparison to other manual gearboxes.

Face- to-face training will take place subsequently when new (K9) vehicles are launched in order to teach technicians about the incorrect removal of the double damping flywheel (ADF).

5. Diagnosis

As on other manual gearboxes, the MB6 manual gearbox has a neutral sensor. The fault codes associated with the malfunctioning of the gearbox have been created and integrated into the diagnostic tool .

The MB6 manual gearbox also has a reverse gear sensor, the diagnostics of which are processed in the same way as other manual gearboxes.

The diagnostics of the MB6 manual gearbox are carried out exclusively with the diagnostic tool .

8.1. Check the oil level

Lubrication interval : Lubricated for life.

N.B. : Special feature on the MB6 manual gearbox : The control cables must be adjusted after stalling in second gear.

The specific tools must be used to ensure the correct positioning of the gear lever in the passenger compartment and the positioning of the MB6 manual gearbox control in the engine compartment.

An incorrect adjustment can lead to :

• A reversal of first gear and reverse gear (A high safety risk)
• A failure to change gears

10. Incorrect removal of the double damping flywheel (ADF)

A double damping flywheel (ADF) is used for the MB6 manual gearbox coupling.

It is normal for there to be play in the double damping flywheel (ADF), even when it is new.

CAUTION : Do not remove or systematically replace the double damping flywheel (ADF).

To prevent the incorrect removal of the double damping flywheel (ADF), a video illustrating the normal clearance and the method for checking it are available on the manufacturer’s aftersales documentation portal ; "Diagnostic assistance: engine double damping flywheel (demo video) ".

CAUTION : Reverse gear must be engaged when the vehicle is stationary.

CAUTION : If the vehicle is in motion, even slightly, this may generate noise and damage the gears.
