1. Cylinder head characteristics

1.1. Identification

"a" Identification of the cylinder head.

(1) Camshaft housing.

(2) Cylinder head.

CAUTION : The internal parts of the cylinder head can be replaced with the exception of the camshaft bearings (Machining after assembly).

The cylinder head assembly comprises the camshaft carrier (1) and the cylinder head (2) (These 2 components cannot be separated).

N.B. : Machining of the cylinder head face is not allowed.

1.3. Camshaft carrier

The seal compound provides the seal between the camshaft carrier (1) and the cylinder head (2).

The camshaft carrier (1a) and camshaft bearing (1b) assembly is assembled using 16 screws (M6x10X35) and comprises the camshaft carrier (1).

The camshaft carrier (1) is positioned on the cylinder head (2) using 2 split pins and secured using 25 screws (M6x10X30).

1.6. Camshaft bearings

(1b) Camshaft bearing caps.

The inlet and outlet camshaft bearing caps must have the oblong holes facing in and the bosses facing out of the cylinder head (at "d", "e") apart from the camshaft bearing caps N°4 which should have the oblong holes facing out and the bosses facing in on the cylinder head (at "c").

CAUTION : The camshaft main bearing caps (1b) cannot be separated from the camshaft carrier (Machining after assembly).

The camshaft bearing cap marks are engraved on each bearing cap (at "c").

2. Identification - specifications : Cylinder head gasket

N.B. : Cylinder head gasket (5).

Measuring zones (at "f").

0,85 ± 0,05 mm

4.2. Identification

CAUTION : The two camshafts have different markings.

IN : Inlet camshaft (4).

EX : Exhaust camshaft (3).

The inlet camshaft is fitted with a trilobe cam to drive the high pressure fuel pump (at "g").

Lateral play of the camshafts

Minimum : 0,10 mm

Maximum : 0,20 mm

CAUTION : The 2 camshaft dephasers have different markings.

IN : Inlet.

EX : Exhaust.
