Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Master cylinder

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Parts which must always be replaced

Seal (Master cylinder / Brake servo unit)	1
Seals (Brake fluid reservoir / Master cylinder)	2
Nuts (Master cylinder / Brake servo unit)	2

2. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift .

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

Remove :

• The style cover
• The ancillaries battery

Drain the brake fluid reservoir as completely as possible ; Using a clean syringe.

3. Removing

Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector (at "a").

Unclip the vacuum circuit pipe (at "b").

Remove :

• The clip (2) (depending on equipment)
• The securing clip (3)
• The soundproofing (1) (depending on equipment)

CAUTION : Prepare for the flow of brake fluid.

N.B. : Protect the units located below the master cylinder from drips of brake fluid.

N.B. : Plug the openings using cleanliness plugs.

Uncouple the hydraulic unions (at "c").

Remove :

• The nuts (4)
• The master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir assembly

Remove the bolt (6).

Uncouple the brake fluid reservoir (5) from the master cylinder (7).

Remove :

• The seals (8)
• The seal (9)

4. Refitting

MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

Refit :

• The new seal (9)
• The new seals (8)
• The brake fluid reservoir (5) on the master cylinder (7)
• The bolt (6)
• The master cylinder (7) and brake fluid reservoir assembly (5)
• The new nuts (4)

Couple up the hydraulic unions (at "c").

Refit :

• The soundproofing (1) (depending on equipment)
• The securing clip (3)
• The clip (2) (depending on equipment)

Reclip the vacuum circuit pipe (at "b").

Reconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector (at "a").

5. Additional operations

Refit :

• The ancillaries battery
• The style cover

Fill and bleed the braking circuit .

Return the vehicle to its wheels.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).
