Peugeot 308: Non operation : Pyrotechnic components

ESSENTIAL : Apply the procedure for the deactivation of the centralised pyrotechnic seat belts system .

ESSENTIAL : All of the vehicle’s pyrotechnic components must be disarmed before the vehicle is scrapped (Driver´s and passenger´s airbags - Pretensioners - Side and curtain air bags - Steering column airbag).

1. Tooling

"A" 24-way connector.

Remove the inhibitor tabs "a" from the 24-way connector to be able to insert them into the adapter [1227-B].

"B" 32-way connector.

Remove the inhibitor tabs "b" from the 32-way connector to be able to insert them into the adapter [1227-B].

2. Safety recommendations

ESSENTIAL : Apply the procedure for switching off the central airbag system .

ESSENTIAL : Before connecting the tool [1227-A / 4155-T], check that it is not live.

If the attempt to destroy a pyrotechnic component fails, wait 10 minutes before intervening then return the pyrotechnic component to the supplier using Replacement Parts packaging.

3. Destruction of a pyrotechnic component (On the outside of the vehicle)

Remove the pyrotechnic component to be destroyed.

ESSENTIAL : The destruction is carried out within a stack of old tyres.

The positioning of the pyrotechnic component should allow for deployment of the air bag upwards to avoid any projection.

CAUTION : Check that the connector is locked on the pyrotechnic component prior to any triggering operation.

Perform the following operations :

• Connect the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] to the pyrotechnic component
• Use the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] to maintain a safe distance
• Connect the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] to a battery
• Deploy by actioning the switch
• Disconnect the [1227-A / 4155-T] tool

4. Destruction of pyrotechnic components on the vehicle (Vehicle destruction)

CAUTION : Use the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] with the adaptor [1227-B] for simultaneous triggering of the pyrotechnic components ; The pyrotechnic elements must be fixed correctly (No spare part must be next to the pyrotechnic elements ).

CAUTION : Triggering of pyrotechnic elements not fitted in position or incorrectly fixed risks causing damage.

ESSENTIAL : Ensure that no-one is in the vicinity of the vehicle when the modules are triggered.

CAUTION : Check that all of the charges in the vehicle have been detonated before scrapping it.

N.B. : If the various pyrotechnic components are not triggered, connect the components to connector of the tool [1227-A / 4155-T]directly.

Remove the centre console  (according to vehicle).

CAUTION : Check that the connector is properly locked on the pyrotechnic component prior to any triggering operation.

Connect the adaptor [1227-B] and the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] to the central control unit (at "c", "d").

Perform the following operations :

• Use the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] to maintain a safe distance
• Connect the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] to a battery
• Close the accesses (Leave a side window open)
• Deploy by actioning the switch
• Disconnect the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] from the battery
• Disconnect the tool [1227-A / 4155-T] and the adaptor [1227-B]
