ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).
ESSENTIAL : All personnel working on vehicles with a fuel cell stack must have completed the STELLANTIS training courses required to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

2. General
Ignition on . Do not disconnect :
Before reconnecting a connector, check :
During electrical checks :
ESSENTIAL : For any operation on the pyrotechnic systems ; Wear antistatic shoes and gloves.
Apply the DE-ACTIVATION procedure for any repair work with the possibility of physical impact :
E.g. dent removal, etc. and for any welding.
Destroy the pyrotechnic components before sending the vehicle to the recycling centre.
If the attempts at destruction fail, wait a few moments before any operation or return the untriggered component to the warranty return centre.
3. Features of the system
ESSENTIAL : For any work on the dashboard, the steering column, the front seats and the centralised airbags and seat belts system, or for any specific welding or dent removal work : Apply the procedure to deactivate the centralised airbag and seat belt system.
CAUTION : The pre-tensioning components assembly must always be disconnected before using measuring instruments : Ohmmeter or other measuring instrument to check the electrical components and wires.
ESSENTIAL : Any of the pyrotechnic components may be triggered if a powered measuring instrument is used for fault finding purposes on this system.
CAUTION : An ohmmeter can be used to make a resistance measurement when the checking tool (calibrated shunt) is connected to replace a pyrotechnic component.
4. Repairability of the wiring harness
ESSENTIAL : After any triggering of the pyrotechnic system, carefully check the entire electrical harness and all of the connectors of the system.
CAUTION : Repair or connection of the electrical wires on the pyrotechnic component lines (from the ECU connection to the pyrotechnic component) is authorised as long as connection equipment RAYCHEM is used and the working procedures given in the instructions in kit RAYCHEM are respected.
CAUTION : Repair of the wires must be carried out with heat shrink sleeves and outer covers.
5. Precautions to be taken : Airbags
N.B. : Comply with the legislation in force in each country regarding the possession, transportation, and handling of pre-tensioning products.
5.1. Removing
ESSENTIAL : When removing the airbag, disconnect the supply connector as soon as it is accessible.
For an airbag that has deployed or not deployed, and in the presence of the warning lamp :
In the case of a triggered airbag :
5.2. Refitting
ESSENTIAL : When refitting the airbag, connect the earth connector first as soon as it is accessible.
Never place your head in the airbag deployment area when connecting the airbag.
Do not make any unauthorised electrical connection on the pyrotechnic system supply line.
Fit only the original parts calibrated according to the type of vehicle.
Apply the procedure to activate the centralised airbag and seat belt system.
Do not use an ohmmeter or any other current generating source on the connector.
Do not expose to temperatures above 100 °C or to flames.
Do not destroy, cut, drill, weld or modify the airbag.
Do not drop or expose the airbag to mechanical impacts.
Do not modify the connector.
Discard, in the special bin, any component of the pyrotechnic system that has been triggered.
Never refit a partially torn airbag.
Carry only one airbag at a time, bag upwards, do not encircle the airbag with your arms.
6. Precautions to be taken : Pyrotechnic seat belts
CAUTION : Comply with the legislation in force in each country regarding the possession, transportation, and handling of pre-tensioning products.
Triggering of the pyrotechnic pretensioner :
7. Precautions to be taken : Vehicle
7.1. Removing
Apply the procedure to deactivate the centralised airbag and seat belt system.
Disconnect the pyrotechnic components.
7.2. Refitting
Reconnect the pyrotechnic components.
Apply the procedure to activate the centralised airbag and seat belt system.
CAUTION : When the ignition is switched on, do not touch the pyrotechnic components.
8. Precautions to be taken : Pretensioner/inertia reel
N.B. : Comply with the legislation in force in each country regarding the possession, transportation, and handling of pre-tensioning products.
After removal, store the pyrotechnic components in a special cabinet.
Do not use an ohmmeter or any other current generating source on the connector.
Do not expose to a temperature above 100°C or to flames.
Never try to open a pyrotechnic system (risk of hot spot).
Discard, in the special bin, any component of the pyrotechnic system that has been triggered.
Do not make any unauthorised electrical connection on the pyrotechnic system supply line.
Fit only the original parts calibrated according to the type of vehicle.
9. Activation : Central system for airbags and pyrotechnic seat belts
The area around the airbags and the pyrotechnic seat belts must be clear, without objects or occupants.
Ignition off : Reconnect the connector to the airbags and pretensioners ECU .
CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery or batteries.
Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries.
On the driver’s side, with the door open, switch on the ignition and clear the driver’s airbag deployment zone.
Check the operation of the pyrotechnic system.
N.B. : Check the operation of the various equipment.
