Peugeot 308: Deactivation / activation : Pyrotechnic systems

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Deactivation

Slacken and then disconnect the negative cable (1) from the ancillaries battery.

Protect the cable and the negative terminal in order to prevent any contact.

CAUTION : Wait for at least 5 minutes before performing any operations(discharging of the airbag ECU power reserve).

CAUTION : The ECU must not be removed with the connector still connected under any circumstances.

Disconnect the airbag ECU connector.

2. Activation

ESSENTIAL : The area of the airbags and pyrotechnic seat belts should be kept clear, both of objects and of people.

Ignition off : Connect the airbag ECU connector.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery negative cable.

On the driver’s side, door open, ignition on, keeping the steering wheel module activation area clear.

Check the system is operating correctly by checking the airbag fault LEDs.

N.B. : After disconnecting the battery, some electronic items (injection, electric window anti-pinch system, etc) need to be reinitialised ; Perform the corresponding initialisation procedures.

3. Procedure for checking the earthing

CAUTION : When winding several wires for the earthing procedure, check that the electrical harness is wound correctly and that the insulating sleeve is not too long (Risk of damaging the earth wire ).

CAUTION : Check that all the electrical harnesses are clean, securely fastened and earthed correctly.

Remove the earthing screws .

Check the seals for corrosion, dirt and rust.

Clean the joint faces.

Refit the bolts .

Protect the harnesses, checking that there is no interference between them and any component liable to damage them.
