Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Rear shock absorber

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : The suspension shock absorbers are removed-refitted one side at a time.

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Parts which must always be replaced

2. Tooling

Lifting tool .

3. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

Remove :

• The rear wheel
• The rear mud guard

4. Removing

Remove :

• The bolt (1)
• The rear crossmember cover (2) (In the direction of the arrow )
• The rear suspension spring

Position lifting tool under the rear axle crossmember.

Slightly compress the rear suspension.

Remove the rear damper lower bolt (3).

Remove :

• The bolts (4)
• The rear shock absorber (5)

5. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

MHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN

Tightening torques :

• Rear suspension
• Wheels

Refit :

• The rear shock absorber (5)
• The bolts (4)

Slightly compress the rear suspension to obtain a dimension "A".

"A" : Europe : 200 mm.

Refit the rear damper (5) lower bolt (3) (New).

Tighten the rear damper lower bolt (3).

Take away the lifting tool.

Refit :

• The rear suspension spring
• The rear crossmember cover (2)
• The bolt (1)

6. Additional operations

Refit :

• The rear mud guard
• The rear wheel
• The vehicle to its wheels
