Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Rear suspension spring

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Tooling

CAUTION : Check the presence and condition of the rubber protectors on the fixed and sliding cups of the spring compressor .

2. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

Remove the rear wheel.

3. Removing

Remove :

• The bolt (1)
• The rear crossmember cover (2) (In the direction of the arrow )

Position the spring compressor [0920-A / WE18Z103A] fitted with its cups [0920-M5 / WE18Z403A].

Compress the rear suspension spring (3).

Remove the compression tool [0920-A / WE18Z103A] and the rear suspension spring (3) .

Release the rear suspension spring (3).

Remove :

• The rear suspension spring (3)
• The upper cup (4)
• The lower cup (5)

CAUTION : Do not put a suspension spring in direct contact with any metallic object or tool.

CAUTION : Check the condition of the suspension spring (absence of signs of impact, scratches or corrosion spots) ; The paint coating on the suspension spring should not be damaged, leaving the metal bare.

4. Refitting

CAUTION : The colour markings on the rear suspension spring (3) must be directed at the lower section towards the rear of the vehicle (at "a").

Refit the upper cup (4) onto the rear suspension spring (3).

Turn the upper cup (4) a quarter of a turn on the rear suspension spring (3).

Refit the lower cup (5) onto the rear suspension spring (3).

Turn the lower cup (5) as far as it will go (at "b") on the rear suspension spring (3).

Position the rear suspension (3) spring in the compression tool [0920-M5 / WE18Z403A], [0920-A / WE18Z103A].

Compress the rear suspension spring (3).

Fit the compression tool [0920-M5 / WE18Z403A], [0920-A / WE18Z103A] and the rear suspension spring (3) onto the rear crossmember .

Release the rear suspension spring (3).

"A" Left-hand side .

"B" Right-hand side .

N.B. : The fitting of the springs on the rear crossmember is not symmetrical.

CAUTION : Check that the lower cup (5) is correctly centred on the lug(at "c").

Refit :

• The rear crossmember cover (2)
• The bolt (1)

5. Additional operations

Refit :

• The rear wheel
• The vehicle to its wheels
