Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Rear bearing-hub assembly

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Parts which must always be replaced

2. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Diagnostic tool.

3. Removing

Put the vehicle on a lift.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required before disconnecting the ancillaries batteries .

Disconnect the ancillaries batteries (Following the specific procedure).

CAUTION : Do not twist the front brake hose.

CAUTION : Do not open the braking circuit on the brake caliper.

CAUTION : Remove the rear brake caliper .

Remove :

• The rear wheel
• The rear brake disc
• The rear wheel speed sensor

Remove :

• The 4 bolts (2)
• The rear hub-bearing (1)
• The protector (4)
• The bearing thrust plate (3)

4. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

Tightening torques :

• Rear suspension
• Braking system
• Wheels

4.1. Common operations

N.B. : Clean and coat the threads of the bolts with an "E3"-type thread lock product .

Refit :

• The bearing thrust plate (3)
• The protector (4)
• The rear hub-bearing (1)
• The 4 new bolts (2)
• The rear wheel speed sensor
• The rear brake disc
• The rear brake caliper
• The rear wheel
• The vehicle to its wheels

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries batteries .

Reconnect the ancillaries batteries (Following the specific procedure).

4.2. Vehicles fitted with an electric parking brake control

Using the diagnostic tool :

• Carry out the rear motorised brake caliper application counter zero reset procedure
• Read and clear the fault codes

4.3. Common operations

ESSENTIAL : Apply the brakes several times, gently and progressively, with the engine running, before driving the vehicle.

Check the effectiveness of the parking brake.

Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary.
