Peugeot 308: Procedure before repairs : (AT6 / AM6 / AMN8 / ATN8 / eATN8) automatic gearbox

In the event of a gearbox malfunction, there exist 2 possible configurations depending on the severity of the fault :

• Gearbox in back-up mode with a substitute programme (the default values are used)
• Gearbox in back-up mode with an emergency programme

The gearbox remains in third gear hydraulic.

CAUTION : In downgraded mode, there is a significant impact on changing P / R or N / R.

Customer arrival.

Speak to the customer, to find out the symptoms of the malfunction.

1. Oil quality

If the gearbox displays a serious fault resulting in a malfunction or the destruction of a clutch, the oil will overheat and be contaminated with impurities (the oil is "burnt").

"Burnt" oil can be identified by its dark colour and its unpleasant smell.

ESSENTIAL : Replace the gearbox.

2. Fluid level

Prior conditions :

• Vehicle in horizontal position, parking brake released
• Check that the gearbox is not in downgrade mode ; Using a diagnostic tool
• Measurement of the gearbox oil temperature (*)
• Apply the brakes firmly and move the lever through the various selector positions
• Place the gear lever in position P
• Engine idling, without consumers (air conditioning, heating, etc)

(*) The oil temperature must be as shown in the table below.

Remove the oil filler cap.

Oil will flow out from the oil level orifice, then drip-drip.

Refit the oil filler cap (the oil level is correct).

No draining of oil via the oil level hole (see operation: draining-refilling gearbox).
