Peugeot 308: Repair procedure : Configuration

1. Safety recommendations

Configuration is a sensitive operation which has a direct effect on the correct operation of the vehicle.

Incorrect configuration can have adverse effects on :

• Safety (Deactivation of the vehicle’s protection systems)
• The overall operation of the vehicle (complete loss or downgading of vehicle functions)
• Vehicle diagnostics (Recording of fault codes that can cause the diagnostic tool’s diagnostic methods to fail, leading to unjustified replacements of parts)

Before attempting to start the engine :

• Check that the parking brake is activated
• For an automatic gearbox, check that the gear lever is in position "P" (Park) (*)
• If a manual gearbox or a piloted manual gearbox, check that the gear lever is in neutral (*)

(*) According to equipment.

2. Preliminary operations

Before any intervention :

• Establish communication with the ECU ; Using a diagnostic tool
• Print out all the diagnostic tool screens that indicate the configuration parameter values, or note down these values by hand

3. Configuration

If configuring the ECU :

• Establish communication with the ECU
• Perform the configuration by internet
• Check the download

If downloading to an ECU :

• Establish communication with the ECU
• Carry out the download
• Perform the configuration by internet
• Check the download
• Perform the programming operations (If necessary)

If replacing an ECU :

• Fit the new ECU
• Establish communication with the ECU
• Perform the configuration by internet
• Check the download
• Perform the programming operations (If necessary)

3.1. Configuration over the Internet

Perform the configuration by internet.

CAUTION : If the configuration by internet does not work (presence of a message on the diagnostic tool indicating the error code associated with the phrase "repeating the operation will serve no purpose"), perform a manual configuration instead of the configuration by internet (refer to the configuration table).

3.2. Procedure to be followed after configuration

Do a manual configuring of the "Customer options" from the print-outs or notes previously made.

Check of certain manual configuration parameters (Refer to the configuration tables).
