ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .
ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).
Key : Operation symbols .
CAUTION : Before any intervention : Put the wheels in the straight ahead position.
CAUTION : For any work that involves uncoupling between the steering wheel and the wheels (steering wheel, controls under the steering wheel, steering column, steering rack, etc.), check the timing of the steering wheel angle sensor for the controls under the steering wheel.
CAUTION : On disconnection, make sure that the connectors unlock properly ; When connecting, check the routing and clipping of the electrical harnesses.
CAUTION : Disconnecting the connectors has to be done without exerting any stress on the electrical harnesses or the connectors (No pulling is allowed on the electrical harness).
N.B. : The operation is carried out in the same way for right-hand or left-hand drive.
1. Location
"A" : left-hand drive.
"B" : right-hand drive.

3. Preliminary operations
CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .
CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.
Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries(depending on equipment).
Remove the steering wheel .
4. Removing
CAUTION : The controls under the steering wheel locking clips must not be damaged or broken.
5. Refitting
CAUTION : Adjust the steering wheel angle sensor before fitting the controls under the steering wheel.
5.1. New controls under the steering wheel
N.B. : The new steering wheel angle sensor of the controls (1) under the steering wheel does not require adjustment.
Remove the lock .
5.2. Reused steering-mounted controls
Locate point 0 :
CAUTION : Do not force when the stop is reached.
Check the alignment of the notch with the index .
CAUTION : Never turn anticlockwise before turning as far as you can go clockwise, as this causes irrevocable damage to the steering wheel angle sensor strip.
6. Common operations
CAUTION : Put the wheels in the straight ahead position.
Make the following checks :
Fit the steering-mounted controls assembly on the steering column, with the controls horizontal.
Clip the controls under the steering wheel back on.
The steering-mounted controls must be aligned on the steering column to avoid amplifying the noise.
Reconnect the connectors.
CAUTION : Do not pull the connectors excessively ; Do not bend the electrical harnesses (curvature to be observed) ; Take every care not to damage the electrical harnesses (Do not twist the electrical harnesses which are moulded in).
Proceed in the reverse order to removal.
7. Additional operations
CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .
CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.
Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries(depending on equipment).
Refit the steering wheel .
Check the operation of the various equipment.
8. Vehicles equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability Programme)
Calibrate the steering wheel angle sensor ; Use the diagnostic tool.
To perform this operation, select the menu "anti-lock braking system (ABS/ESP)".
After disconnecting the ancillaries battery, a dynamic calibration of the steering wheel angle sensor must be carried out .
