Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Rear suspension

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

2. Replacement of parts in all cases only if the crossmember is stripped

3. Tooling

Workshop equipment :

• Pedal press
• A diagnostic tool

4. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

CAUTION : Strap the vehicle onto the lift.

CAUTION : Before carrying out any work on the rear brakes, place the motorised brake caliper assembly in the removal position ; Using the diagnostic tool.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required before disconnecting the ancillaries batteries .

Disconnect the ancillaries batteries (Following the specific procedure).

Place the pedal press on the brake pedal in order to prevent the discharge of any brake fluid when disconnecting the brake pipes.

Remove the rear wheels.

5. Removing

Remove :

• The protectors (1)
• The protectors under the body (2)

CAUTION : Rear body height sensor (depending on equipment).

Remove :

• The rear body height sensor (depending on equipment)
• The rear suspension springs

Symmetrical operations :

• Disconnect the connectors (at "a")
• Detach and move aside the electrical harnesses (at "b")

N.B. : Symmetrical operations.

Detach and move aside the electrical harnesses (at "c").

Symmetrical operations :

• Loosen the union (3)
• Remove the retaining clip (4)
• Uncouple the front brake hose (5)
• Plug the brake pipe ; Using the tool [0194-2E]

Offer up the lifting table [0004-Z / WE-160002-A] under the vehicle.

Slightly compress the rear suspension ; Using the lifting table [0004-Z / WE-160002-A].

Remove the rear shock absorber lower bolt-nut assembly (6) (on each side).

CAUTION : 2 operators are required for this operation.

Unscrew the screws (9).

Separate the mountings (8).

Remove the rear suspension (7).

6. Removal of the stops only if the crossmember is stripped

N.B. : In case of breakage : Replace the stop .

Assembly "A" :

• Clean the surfaces between the stop (10) and the rear suspension (7) ; Using an air blower
• Disengage the lugs "" (at "d" and "e") ; Using small flat screwdrivers
• Detach the stop (10) (gradually)
• Remove the stop (10)

Assembly "B" :

• Clean the surfaces between the stop (10) and the rear suspension (7)
• Disengage the lugs "" (at "d" and "e") (in the direction of arrows)
• Detach the stop (10) (gradually)
• Remove the stop (10)

7. Refitting of the stops only if the crossmember is stripped

Refit the stop (10).

8. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

PHEV DRIVE TRAIN

Tightening torque :

• Rear axle
• Wheels

CAUTION : 2 operators are required for this operation.

Offer up the rear suspension under the body in the same position as for removal.

Refit :

• The rear suspension (7)
• The brackets (8)

Refit (without tightening) (on each side) :

• The new bolts (9)
• The new rear shock absorber lower bolt-nut assembly (6)

Slightly compress the rear suspension to obtain a dimension "A".

"A" : Europe = 182 mm.

Tighten ( on each side) :

• The new rear shock absorber lower bolt-nut assembly (6)
• The new bolts (9)

Move aside the lifting table [0004-Z / WE-160002-A].

Symmetrical operations :

• Remove the tool [0194-2E]
• Couple up the front brake hose (5)
• Refit the clip (4)
• Tighten the connector (3)
• Reconnect the connectors (at "a")
• Clip the electric harnesses (at "b", "c")

Refit :

• The rear body height sensor (depending on equipment)
• The rear suspension springs
• The protectors (1)
• The protectors under the body (2)

9. Additional operations

Refit the rear wheels.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries batteries .

Reconnect the ancillaries batteries (Following the specific procedure).

Remove the pedal press.

Bleed the braking circuit.

Return the vehicle to its wheels.

ESSENTIAL : Apply the brakes several times, gently and progressively, with the engine running, before driving the vehicle.

Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary.
