Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Traction battery

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Tooling

2. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

ESSENTIAL : Switch the vehicle’s power off .

Drain the traction battery cooling circuit .

Remove :

• The rear right-hand underbody protector
• The exhaust rear silencer
• The traction battery cooling circuit electric coolant pump

CAUTION : Fit plugs in the coolant inlets and outlets of the traction battery cooling circuit and in the inlets and outlets of the traction battery cooling circuit coolant pipes.

3. Removing

CAUTION : Do not damage the electrical power harness .

Unclip the electrical harness (at "a").

Disconnect the connector (at "b").

Detach the electrical power harness ‎ (at "c").

Remove the bolt (1).

Remove :

• The nuts (3)
• The exhaust heat shield (2)

Remove the bolts (5).

Unclip the strap (4) (at "d").

Remove :

• Nut (6)
• The earth cable (7)

Unclip the traction battery cooling circuit pipes (8) (at "e").

Remove the 3 bolts (9) from the traction battery .

N.B. : Fit the rubber feeler gauges between the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A] and the traction battery.

Raise the lifting table ‎[0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A]‎(10) slightly to restrain the traction battery.

N.B. : Mark the position of the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A] on the ground.

Hold the traction battery (10) in position ; Using the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A].

Remove :

• The bolt (13)
• The 3 bolts (12)
• The bolts (11), (14)
• The traction battery (10) ; Using the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A] (Lower it a by a few centimetres only)

Unclip the electrical harness (at "f").

Remove the traction battery (10) ; Using the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A].

N.B. : Slinging procedure when replacing the traction battery .

4. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

Tightening torques :

• Components of the hybrid drive train
• Exhaust line

CAUTION : Do not damage or crush the electrical power harnesses with the lifting table.

CAUTION : Do not damage the electrical harness .

CAUTION : Do not damage or crush the traction battery (10) cooling circuit ‎pipes ‎(8).

Position the traction battery (10) 20 cm from its position under the vehicle ; Using the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A].

Clip the electrical harness (at "f").

Refit :

• The traction battery (10) ; Using the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A]
• The bolts (11), (14)
• The 3 bolts (12)
• The bolt (13)
• The 3 bolts (9)

Retract the lifting table [0004-Z] / [WE-160002-A].

Clip the traction battery (10) cooling circuit pipes (8) (at "e").

Refit :

• The earth cable (7)
• Nut (6)
• The strap (4) (at "d")
• The bolt (5)
• The exhaust heat shield (2)
• The nuts (3)
• The bolt (1)

Clip :

• The electrical power harness (at "c")
• The electrical harness (at "a")

Reconnect the connector (at "b").

5. Additional operations

CAUTION : Remove the plugs from the coolant inlets and outlets of the traction battery cooling circuit and the inlets and outlets of the traction battery cooling circuit coolant pipes.

Refit :

• The traction battery cooling circuit electric coolant pump
• The exhaust rear silencer
• The rear right-hand underbody protector
• The vehicle to its wheels

ESSENTIAL : Switch the vehicle’s power on .

N.B. : In the event of replacement : Initialise the system ; Using the diagnostic tool.

Fill and bleed the traction battery cooling circuit .

6. Check

Check the sealing of the traction battery (10) cooling circuit.

Start the engine.

Carry out :

• Reading and clearing of the fault codes ; Using the diagnostic tool
• A road test
