ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

3. Balance shaft drive pinion

3.1. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries(depending on equipment).

Remove :

  • The ancillary drive belt
  • The coolant pump drive belt

3.2. Removing

ESSENTIAL : Before carrying out any work on the exhaust line, wait for it to cool down.

Turn the engine clockwise by means of the crankshaft pulley screw, to bring it to the pegging position.

N.B. : Check the pegging of the engine by trying to turn the crankshaft bolt clockwise and anti-clockwise.

Peg the engine flywheel(at "a") ; Using the tool [0197-N / EN-52588].

Remove :

  • The 6 crankshaft pulley (4) bolts (3)
  • The crankshaft pulley (4)
  • Balance shaft housing (1)
  • The hub cap (2)

Remove :

  • The bolt (6)
  • The balance weight (7) of the balance shaft
  • The balance shaft drive pinion (5)

3.3. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

Refit :

  • The balance shaft drive pinion (5)
  • The balance weight (7) of the balance shaft
  • The new bolt (6) without tightening it

Fit the tool [0109-4H / EN-52589] on the balancing shaft and secure it on the cylinder block ; Using the 2 bolts (8)(at "b").

Check the flush fitting of the tool [0109-4H / EN-52589] on the balance shaft balance weight (7)(at "c").

Tighten :

  • The tool [0109-4H / EN-52589] ; Using the 2 bolts (8)
  • The bolt (6)

Remove :

  • The 2 bolts (8)
  • The tool [0109-4H / EN-52589]
  • The tool [0197-N / EN-52588]

Refit :

  • The new sealing cap (2) ; Using the tool [0109-3B / EN-52133-2]
  • The new balance shaft housing (1)
  • The crankshaft pulley (4)
  • The 6 new crankshaft pulley bolts (3)

3.4. Additional operations

Refit :

  • The new coolant pump drive belt
  • The ancillary drive belt

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries(depending on equipment).

4. Counterbalance shaft

4.1. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries(depending on equipment).

Remove :

  • The engine - gearbox assembly
  • The gearbox
  • The engine flywheel

Place the engine on the stand .

Remove :

  • The ancillary drive belt
  • The coolant pump drive belt
  • The balance shaft drive pinion

4.2. Removing

Remove :

  • The engine speed sensor (9)
  • The ring seal (10) on the engine flywheel end
  • The hub cap (11)

Remove the balance shaft (12) (In the direction of the arrow "d").

4.3. Removing the balance shaft bearings

Extract the needle bearing (13), flywheel end ; Using a 20 mm diameter slide hammer.

Remove the circlip (15).

Extract the ball bearing (14) ; Using a 20 mm diameter slide hammer.

4.4. Refitting the balance shaft bearings

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

Position :

  • The centraliser [0109-4F3 / EN-52131-3] on the cylinder block
  • The needle bearing (13) on the tappet [0109-4F1 / EN-52131-1]
  • The threaded rod [0109-4F4 / EN-52131-4]

Position :

  • The ball bearing (14) on the tappet [0109-4F2 / EN-52131-2]
  • Nut [0109-4F5 / EN-52131-5]

Tighten the nut [0109-4F5 / EN-52131-5] until the bearings are fully in place.

Remove the tool [0109-4F / EN-52131].

Fit the new circlip (15).

4.5. Refitting the balance shaft

Refit :

  • The balance shaft (12) (In the opposite direction to the arrow "d")
  • The new sealing cap (11) ; Using the tool [0109-3C / EN-52133-3]
  • The ring seal (10) on the engine flywheel end (New)
  • The engine speed sensor (9)

4.6. Additional operations

Refit :

  • The engine - gearbox assembly
  • The gearbox
  • The engine flywheel
  • The ancillary drive belt
  • The new coolant pump drive belt
  • The balance shaft drive pinion

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .
