ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .
ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).
N.B. : Traction circuit: traction battery electrical network.
1. Tooling
Workshop equipment :
Tool | Reference | Description |
| [VAT1] | Voltage absence verifier |
2. Preliminary operations
Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.
CAUTION : Check that there are no electrical consumers (lighting, cooling fans, etc.).
Open :
Put the sequential gear lever in the "P" position.
Apply the handbrake.
CAUTION : Check that the wheels cannot turn.
3. Switching off
3.1. Stage 1 : Check of the presence of a voltage
CAUTION : Do not use a voltage absence tester to check for voltage.
CAUTION : To check for voltage on the auxiliary circuit and on the traction circuit, use a voltage tester or multimeter.
Start the internal combustion engine .
N.B. : Check the voltage tester or multimeter (Following the supplier’s instructions).
Check that there is voltage between the positive (1) cable of the connected ancillaries battery and a body earth (value between 12 and 15 V) (In "a") ; Using a voltage tester or multimeter.
Remove the protector (2).
Remove the plug (3).
N.B. : Check the voltage tester or multimeter (Following the supplier’s instructions).
Check that there is voltage between the positive "b" terminal of the direct voltage transformer (4) and a body earth (value equal to 48 V) (In "a") ; Using a voltage tester or multimeter.
ESSENTIAL : In the event of a failure when checking for 48 V voltage, stop the switch-off procedure and escalate the issue to technical assistance.
Switch off the ignition.
CAUTION : After switching off the ignition, wait for 5 minutes (Allowing the ECUs to go to sleep).
N.B. : This operation enables the internal relay on the traction battery to be opened and the supply to the direct voltage transformer (4) to be cut.
N.B. : The sleep mode of the ECU is confirmed by the sequential gear lever indicator lamp "P" turning off.
3.2. Stage 2 : Check for no voltage
Disconnect the positive terminal (1) of the ancillaries battery .
CAUTION : Check the voltage absence detector (Following the supplier’s instructions).
Check for the absence of voltage between the positive (1) cable that has been disconnected from the ancillaries battery and a body earth (In "a") ; Using the tool [VAT1].
Put the positive cable (1) of the ancillaries battery in an insulating bag and attach an insulating plug 12 V on the positive terminal of the ancillaries battery.
ESSENTIAL : In the event of a failure when checking for the absence of voltage, stop the switch-off procedure and escalate the issue to the work giver.
N.B. : Check the voltage absence detector (Following the supplier’s instructions).
Check that there is no voltage between the positive "b" terminal of the direct voltage transformer (4) and a body earth (In "a") ; Using the tool [VAT1].
CAUTION : The equipment probe [VAT1] must be in contact with the terminals (at "a", "b").
ESSENTIAL : In the event of a failure when checking for the absence of voltage, stop the switch-off procedure and escalate the issue to the work giver.
CAUTION : If successful, check the tool [VAT1] is working again by way of continuity (contact between the 2 contact points) ; The risk of a short circuit from a voltage of 48 V is eliminated.
The vehicle switch-off procedure is now complete and the vehicle is electrically secured.
