3. Preliminary operations
Release the front wheel bolts.
Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.
CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required before disconnecting the ancillaries batteries .
CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.
Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).
CAUTION : Do not twist the front brake hose.
CAUTION : Do not open the braking circuit on the brake caliper.
CAUTION : Move aside the brake caliper and secure it to the bodywork.
Remove :
4. Removing
Remove :
CAUTION : Never separate the front brake hose from its support (at "a") : Risk of seriously damaging the brake hose.
Remove the bolt (6).
Move aside the wheel speed sensor (5).
Remove the bolt (4).
Move aside the brake hose, electrical harness and support assembly.
CAUTION : Coat the thread of the drive shaft and between the lugs of the drive shaft nut generously with graphite grease to avoid damaging the thread of the drive shaft during the drive shaft nut removal operation.
CAUTION : Never apply the brakes to tighten the nut ; Risk of shearing of the brake disc bolts on the hub.
Use tool [6310-T1 / CH-52291] to prevent the hub from turning.
Untighten then remove the drive shaft nut (7).
Loosen the nut (8) until it reaches the end of the steering ball joint (9) rod .
Uncouple the steering ball-joint (9) ; Using the tool [0709] or [CH-161-B].
Remove the nut (8).
INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR MHEV DRIVE TRAIN
CAUTION : Risk of damage to the front body height sensor (depending on equipment).
Uncouple the front body height sensor rod .
ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN
Uncouple the front body height sensor rod .
Remove the nut (10).
CAUTION : Do not damage the suspension lower arm ball joint gaiter.
CAUTION : When removing the lower suspension arm, keep the driveshaft in the differential.
Uncouple the suspension arm (11) from the front hub carrier ; Using the tool [0622].
Remove the bolt-nut assemblies (12).
CAUTION : When detaching the hub carrier, support the drive shaft in the differential.
Release the front hub carrier (13) from the driveshaft .
Remove the front pivot (13).
5. Refitting
CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN
Tightening torque :
PHEV DRIVE TRAIN
Tightening torque :
ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN
Tightening torques :
MHEV DRIVE TRAIN
Tightening torque :
CAUTION : If the driveshaft is reused, clean the driveshaft thread carefully ; Using brake cleaner and a clean cloth.
Engage the hub carrier on the drive shaft .
Refit :
CAUTION : Do not damage the suspension lower arm ball joint gaiter.
Couple the suspension arm (11) to the front hub carrier (13) ; Using the tool [0622].
Fit the new nut (10).
INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR MHEV DRIVE TRAIN
CAUTION : Risk of damage to the front body height sensor (depending on equipment).
Couple the front body height sensor rod .
ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN
Couple the front body height sensor rod .
Couple the steering ball-joint (9).
Fit the new nut (8).
Stop the hub from turning ; Using the tool [6310-T1 / CH-52291].
CAUTION : Do not use a pneumatic gun during the driveshaft nut refitting operations (Damage to the driveshaft thread).
Refit :
6. Additional operations
Refit the front brake disc .
Visually inspect the routing and condition of the brake hoses and pipes.
Refit :
CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries batteries .
CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.
Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).
If the front hub carrier has been replaced, check the suspension geometry.
