Peugeot 308: Repair : Front hub carrier

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

3. Removing

INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN OR MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

Remove the front hub carrier .

Remove the front hub bearing retaining circlip (1) ; Using circlip pliers.

Position the tool [0621-J / CH-52290-2-3].

Position :

• The tool [0621-K / CH-52290-2-4]
• The tool [0621-C / CH-52290-2-1]

Extract the hub (2) with the bearing outer half-race.

Fit two wheel bolts to the hub and grip it in the vice.

Remove the dust cover (3) from the bearing ; Using a screwdriver.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION DRIVE TRAIN OR PHEV DRIVE TRAIN OR ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN OR MHEV DRIVE TRAIN

Position :

• The tool [0621-J]
• The extractor

Extract the bearing outer race (4) ; Using the extractor .

Position the inner race in its housing.

Position the front hub carrier on tool [0621-B / CH-52543-1].

Bring the tool [0621-M / CH-52543-2] into contact with the bearing race.

Extract the bearing (4) on the press.

4. Refitting

4.1. Features of wheel bearing

CAUTION : Use a new hub bearing and new circlip. Lubricate the housing of the bearing inside the pivot body and the hub itself. The parts must be clean and free from any trace of abnormal wear or impact.

CAUTION : Do not place a bearing with integrated magnetic wheel near a magnetic source or a source of contamination by metallic particles.

CAUTION : Fit face "a" of the bearing on the gearbox side.

ELECTRIC DRIVE TRAIN

CAUTION : Fit the face "a" of the bearing on the reduction gear side .

4.2. Refitting

Position :

• The new bearing (4) in the front hub carrier
• The tool [0621-T / CH-52543-3]

On the press, fit the bearing (4) fully into place.

Refit the dust cover (3) of the bearing.

CAUTION : The circlip (1) must not obstruct the space (at "b") for fitting the wheel speed sensor.

Fit the new bearing retaining circlip (1) in its channel ; Using circlip pliers.

Check the positioning of the circlip (1).

Position :

• The front hub carrier on the front hub
• The tool [0625-B / CH-52543-4]

Replace the hub with the press as far as the stop.

Refit the front hub carrier .
