Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Gear control

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

CAUTION : Adjust the gearbox control cables each time the gear controls are removed.

1. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

Switch on the ignition.

Move the front seats as far back as possible.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

Disconnect the ancillaries battery .

Remove the centre console .

2. Removing

Remove :

• The front under engine protection
• The ancillaries battery

Uncouple the 2 ball joints (1).

Unclip the electrical harness (at "a").

Remove :

• The bolt (5)
• The reverse gear engagement device (4)
• The bolts (3)
• The bracket (2)

Remove :

• The nuts (6)
• The air deflectors (7)

Remove :

• The exhaust line
• The nuts (8)
• The exhaust heat shield (9)

Remove the seal (10).

Remove :

• The nuts (11)
• The gear controls assembly (12)(from underneath the vehicle)

3. Refitting

Put the gearbox controls assembly in place(from underneath the vehicle).

Refit :

• The gear controls assembly (12)
• The nuts (11)
• The seal (10)
• The exhaust heat shield (9)
• The nuts (8)
• The exhaust line
• The air deflectors (7)
• The nuts (6)
• The bracket (2)
• The bolts (3)
• The reverse gear engagement device (4)
• The bolt (5)

Connect the 2 ball joints (1).

CAUTION : An incorrect adjustment may make it difficult to engage gears.

Adjust the gearbox controls .

Check that all of the gears engage without any point of resistance.

Refit :

• The ancillaries battery
• The front under engine protection

4. Additional operations

Refit :

• The centre console
• The vehicle to its wheels

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

Reconnect the ancillaries battery .
