Peugeot 308: Cleaning and refitting conditions : gearbox

Do not use abrasives or sharp tools on the joint faces.

Clean the threads and taps.

Fit only parts which are clean and free from faults (scores, burrs, knocks).

Oil the parts as they are refitted.

Always replace after removal :

• The seals
• The sealing rings
• The driveshaft seals
• The pins
• The bearings
• The stop rings and circlips
• The spring washers
• The bearing guide tightening bolts ( clutch )
• The differential crown wheel tightening bolts
• The tightening nuts for the shaft lines
• The planet gear carrier shaft locking ring

Maintain the matching of :

• Shafts and forks
• Hubs and synchronizers

The working area should be clean and tidy.

Mark components before dismantling.

Store removed components away from dust contamination.
