Peugeot 308: Draining - filling - level : eATN8 type automatic gearbox

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

2. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Diagnostic tool.

N.B. : Use only recommended products.

Gearbox oil (index "B14") .

4. Draining

CAUTION : The gearbox oil must only be drained when the oil is hot 63 °C (+ 3°, - 3°) to remove the impurities that are in suspension in the oil.

N.B. : The oil change is partial, since the converter cannot be totally drained.

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

Remove the under-engine protector (depending on equipment).

Remove :

• The oil level plug (1) using a torx wrench
• The oil overflow and drainage plug (2) ; Using a 6-sided wrench

N.B. : Approximately 3 litres of oil should flow out.

5. Filling

Refit :

• The oil overflow and drainage plug (2) (equipped with a new seal)
• The top-up plug (1)
• The vehicle to its wheels

Slacken the bolt (4).

Remove the air inlet union (3).

Remove the filler cap (5).

N.B. : Use tool [0340].

CAUTION : Ignore the information mentioned on the tool [0340].

N.B. : Use only recommended products.

Volume required after draining in aftersales	3,5 litres (including 1 litre for overflow)
Filling volume in aftersales	2,5 litres

Fill the automatic gearbox .

Refit the filler plug (5).

6. Check the oil level

Prior conditions :

• Vehicle level
• Check that the gearbox is not in downgrade mode
• Switch off the air conditioning
• Remove the filler cap (5)
• Add 1 additional litres of oil in the gearbox
• Apply the brakes firmly and move the lever through the various selector positions
• Gear control lever in position ‎"P"
• Engine running at idle
• Oil temperature 63°C (+/- 3 °C) (measuring of parameters using a diagnostic tool)

Lift the vehicle, wheels suspended.

Remove the top-up cap (1).

6.1. "HT12" and "HT13" automatic gearbox

N.B. : If nothing is flowing : Repeat the top-up procedure.

When the flow becomes a drip : Refit the oil level plug (equipped with a new seal).

6.2. "HT08", "HT09", "HT11" and "HT14" automatic gearbox

N.B. : If nothing is flowing : Repeat the top-up procedure.

When the flow becomes a drip : Refit the oil level plug (equipped with a new seal).

Switch off the engine.

Add 0,263 additional litres of oil in the gearbox.

6.3. Check the oil level (Continued)

Too high a fluid level can cause :

• Overheating of the fluid
• Fluid leaks

Too low a level causes destruction of the gearbox.

Refit :

• The under-engine protector
• The vehicle on the ground
• The oil filler plug (5) (equipped with a new seal)
• The air inlet union (3)

Retighten the bolt (4).
