Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Reduction gear

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles(observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Parts which must always be replaced

2. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Lifting tool .

3. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required before disconnecting the ancillaries batteries .

Disconnect the ancillaries batteries (Following the specific procedure).

Remove :

• The under-engine protector
• The protection under the traction battery

Drain the reduction gear .

Remove :

• The ancillaries battery and its support
• The front driveshafts
• The front subframe (Without removal of the steering mechanism)

Move aside and clamp the electrical air conditioning compressor ‎ (Without opening the cooling circuit).

4. Removing

Remove :

• The electric air conditioning compressor ‎ bracket ‎(1) bolts ‎(2)
• The electric air conditioning compressor ‎ bracket ‎(1)

Disconnect the park finger locking actuator connector (at "a").

Unclip the electrical harness (at "b","d").

Unclip the electric air conditioning compressor electrical power harness (3) (at "c").

Remove :

• The bolt (4)
• The plate (5)
• Nut (7)
• The support (6)

Uncouple the breather pipe (8)(at "e").

Place a component lift under the electric drive machine and reduction gear assembly .

Remove the 2 bolts (9).

Remove :

• The bolts (10), (12)
• The support (11)

Remove the 2 nuts (13) (From above the vehicle).

Remove :

• The electric drive machine and reduction gear assembly ‎ left-hand bracket ‎(14) bolts ‎(15)
• The electric drive machine and reduction gear assembly ‎ left-hand bracket ‎(14)

Remove :

• The 2 bolts (19)
• The 2 nuts (16),(18)

Uncouple and remove the reduction gear ‎(17).

Remove the fitting ring ‎(20).

Remove the seal (21).

5. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques.

Tightening torques :

• Coupling of engine on reduction gear
• Suspension of the electric drive machine and reduction gear assembly

Assembly "A" : Electric drive machine driveshaft.

Assembly "B" : Input shaft, reduction gear side.

Grease the driveshafts ‎ (at "f").

N.B. : Use grease recommended by the manufacturer, index ‎"G16" .

Remove the surplus grease on the top of the grooves and the end of the input shaft using a cloth.

Refit :

• The new seal (21)
• The fitting ring ‎(20)

Couple the reduction gear ‎(17) onto the electric drive machine ‎.

Refit :

• The 2 bolts (19)
• The 2 nuts (16),(18)
• The 2 bolts (9)
• The electric drive machine and reduction gear assembly ‎ left-hand bracket ‎(14)
• The electric drive machine and reduction gear assembly ‎ left-hand bracket ‎(14) bolts ‎(15)
• The 2 nuts (13) (From above the vehicle)
• The support (11)
• The bolts

Remove the component lift.

Couple up the breather pipe (8)(at "e").

Refit :

• The support (6)
• Nut (7)
• The plate (5)
• The bolt (4)

Reconnect the park finger locking actuator connector(at "a").

Clip the electrical harness (at "b","d").

Clip on the electric air conditioning compressor electrical power harness (3)(at "c").

Refit :

• The electric air conditioning compressor ‎ bracket ‎(1)
• The electric air conditioning compressor ‎ bracket ‎(1) bolts ‎(2)

Reconnect the park finger locking actuator connector(at "a").

6. Additional operations

Refit :

• The front subframe (Without removal of the steering mechanism)
• The front driveshafts
• The electric air conditioning compressor
• The ancillaries battery and its support

Fill the reduction gear .

Refit :

• The under-engine protector
• The protection under the traction battery
• The vehicle to its wheels

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries batteries .

Reconnect the ancillaries batteries (Following the specific procedure).
