Peugeot 308: Removing-refitting : Air conditioning compressor

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

CAUTION : Only remove the plugs from the air conditioning ducts, clamps and unions at the moment when these are connected on the vehicle.

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

2. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Air conditioning circuit filling and recycling station.

3. Removing

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

Disconnect the ancillaries battery .

Drain the air conditioning circuit ; Using the air conditioning circuit filling and recycling station.

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift .

Remove the under-engine protector (depending on equipment).

Assembly "A", "B", "C"(depending on equipment).

Remove :

• The ancillary drive belt (3)
• The 2 nuts (2)

CAUTION : Plug all of the ducts quickly to prevent the entry of moisture ; Using the tool [1701-HZ].

Uncouple the air conditioning system pipes .

Disconnect the connectors (at "a")(depending on equipment).

Unclip the electrical harness (at "b").

Remove :

• The air conditioning compressor (4) fixing bolts (1)
• The air conditioning compressor (4)

CAUTION : Drain the air conditioning compressor (4) ; Measure the quantity of oil recovered.

4. Refitting

CAUTION : Never refit an air conditioning compressor that has suffered an impact.

CAUTION : Check that the ducts upstream and downstream of the air conditioning pressure relief valve are clean.

CAUTION : Put in place new O-ring seal ; Oil the seals with air conditioning compressor oil.

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

CAUTION : Drain the new air conditioning compressor (4) Put in the quantity of oil noted on removal.

Refit :

• The new O-rings
• The new air conditioning compressor (4)
• The air conditioning compressor (4) fixing bolts (1)

Clip the electrical harness (at "b").

Reconnect the connectors (at "a")(depending on equipment).

Couple up the air conditioning system pipes .

CAUTION : The clamp of the air conditioning ducts must be against its interface before tightening the nuts.

Refit :

• The 2 nuts (2)
• The ancillary drive belt (3)

Carry out a vacuum extraction of the air conditioning circuit (For 15 minutes minimum).

Check the sealing of the air conditioning circuit.

Refit :

• The under-engine protector (depending on equipment)
• The vehicle to its wheels

Carry out :

• A vacuum extraction of the air conditioning circuit (For 35 minutes minimum)
• Filling of the air conditioning circuit

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

Reconnect the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : When the air conditioning compressor (4) starts up for the first time, do not exceed 1500 rpm during the first minute in order to distribute the oil in the air conditioning circuit.

Check the operation of the air conditioning compressor (4).
