Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Spark plugs

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

ESSENTIAL : All personnel carrying out work on a vehicle fitted with traction batteries must have received specific electric vehicle training and be authorised to work on these vehicles (observe the regulations in force in the respective country).

1. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Spanner 6 sides of 9 mm.

Tool	Reference	Description
	[0189-P][EN-51149]	plug spanner (14 mm)

2. Preliminary operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Disconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

Remove the engine cover .

3. Removing

Uncouple the oil vapours recirculation pipe (1) (at "a").

Disconnect the connectors of the ignition coils (at "b").

Remove :

• The bolts (2)
• The ignition coils (3) (towards the top)
• The sparking plugs ; Using the tool [0189-P / EN-51149]

CAUTION : Plug the spark plug openings (if necessary).

4. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

Refit the sparking plugs ; Using the tool [0189-P / EN-51149].

CAUTION : Do not lubricate the extension leads when reinstalling the ignition coils (3) ; Risk of damage.

CAUTION : Point the ignition coil in it original position with reference to its mounting point before reinstalling it on the spark plug : Do not twist the end of the ignition coil.

Fitting procedure :

• Insert an 6 key of 9 mm between the ignition coil (3) and the fuel high pressure common injection rail (at "c" and "d")
• Put the ignition coil (3) end piece in place on the ignition coil
• Refit the bolt (2) (without tightening)

CAUTION : Keep the 6 key with 9 sides vertical, holding it at "c", "d" while tightening the screw (2).

CAUTION : The ignition coil (3) must not pivot and its end must not be twisted while being tightened : Risk of destruction of the ignition coil (3).

Tighten the bolt (2) .

Perform the same operation on the 2 other ignition coils (3).

Reconnect the connectors of the ignition coils (at "b").

Couple the oil vapours recirculation pipe (1) (at "a").

5. Additional operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : In the case of a vehicle with 2 batteries, carry out the specific operations for disconnecting and reconnecting the ancillaries batteries.

Reconnect the ancillaries battery or batteries (depending on equipment).

Refit the engine cover .
