Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Automatic gearbox ECU

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

1. Parts which must always be replaced

2. Tooling

Workshop equipment : Diagnostic tool.

3. Removing

CAUTION : In the case of replacement of the automatic gearbox ECU, read the value of the oil wear counter (follow the diagnostic tool procedure).

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

Disconnect the ancillaries battery .

Remove :

• The air filter housing (if necessary)
• The air inlet resonator (if necessary)
• The ancillaries battery and its support (if necessary)

Uncouple the ball joint (2) of the gear selector lever (depending on equipment).

Position the selector lever (3) in position "N" (depending on equipment).

Remove the gear selection control lever (3) (depending on equipment).

Disconnect the connector (1) (at "a").

Remove :

• The bolts (4)
• The automatic gearbox ECU (5)

Disconnect the electrical harness internal to the automatic gearbox .

Remove the gear selector shaft seal (6) ; Using the tool [0336-M] / [DT-52214].

4. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the tightening torques .

4.1. Gear selector shaft seal

Fit a new gear selection shaft seal (6) ; Using the tool [0336-N1] / [DT-52215].

Fit new seals .

Check :

• The condition of the connector (7)
• The positioning of the connector in the automatic gearbox casing (Locating tab "b" in the notch "c")

4.2. Automatic gearbox ECU

Precautions to be taken :

• Check that the gear selection shaft (8) is in the neutral position
• Align the 2 markings for position "N" of the automatic gearbox ECU (5)

N.B. : The new automatic gearbox ECU is delivered in position "N".

CAUTION : Support the lever (3) to tighten the nut and couple the ball-joint (2).

Refit :

• The gearbox ECU (5) (Locating tab "b" in the notch "d")
• The bolts (4)
• The gear control lever (3) (depending on equipment)

Connect the connector (1) (at "a").

Couple the ball-joint (2) of the gear selection control (depending on equipment).

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

Reconnect the ancillaries battery .

5. Check

Check that all the gears change.

If the automatic gearbox ECU (5) is replaced : Perform the following operations :

• Writing the value of the oil usage counter in the new automatic gearbox ECU
• Initialise the auto-adaptive values
• Programme the electrovalves and the oil pressure regulators
• Carry out a learning procedure of position "N" of position sensor of gear selector lever

For all these operations, follow procedure ; Using the diagnostic tool.

Refit :

• The ancillaries battery and its support (if necessary)
• The air inlet resonator (if necessary)
• The air filter housing (if necessary)
