Peugeot 308: Removing - refitting : Hydraulic and solenoid valve block

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness instructions .

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

Description Quantity
Screw (Hydraulic block housing) 10
Seal (Hydraulic block housing) 1

2. Preliminary operations

Place the vehicle on a 2-post lift.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required prior to a disconnection of the ancillaries battery .

Disconnect the ancillaries battery.

3. Hydraulic and solenoid valve block

3.1. Removing

Remove :

  • The air inlet neck (depending on engine)
  • The air inlet resonator (depending on engine)
  • The air filter housing (depending on engine)
  • The starter control interface unit (depending on engine)
  • The bracket of the engine cooling circuit pipes (depending on engine)

Lift and support the vehicle.

Remove the under-engine protector (depending on equipment).

Drain the automatic gearbox oil .

Move aside the engine cooling system pipes (depending on engine).

Uncouple the air union (depending on engine).

Disconnect the gearbox ECU connector .

Remove :

  • The electric harness support attached to the gearbox
  • The hydraulic block housing (2) bolts (1)
  • The hydraulic block housing (2)

N.B. : The hydraulic block housing (2) contains around 0,5 l of oil.

Disconnect the connectors (at "a") ; Using a thin screwdriver.

Release the electrical harness (at "b").

N.B. : The oil temperature sensor (5) is integral with the electrical harness .

Remove :

  • The bolt (4)
  • The clamp (3)

Move aside the oil temperature sensor (5).

Retain the electrical harnesses on the gearbox casing ; Using adhesive tapes.

Remove the bolts (6).

CAUTION : Handle the hydraulic block with care and protect it against any source of contamination.

CAUTION : When removing the hydraulic block (7), check that the spacer (8) of the hydraulic block (7) is present on the automatic gearbox or on the hydraulic block (7).

Remove the (7) hydraulic block.

3.2. Precautions to be taken before refitting

CAUTION : When refitting the hydraulic block (7), check that the seal (9) and the spacer (8) of the hydraulic block (7) are present on the automatic gearbox.

3.3. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the order of tightening and the tightening torques .

Refit the hydraulic valve block (7).

CAUTION : Do not pinch the electrical harnesses of the speed sensors .

Refit :

  • The bolts (6) (Manually) (In the region of 1 to 10)
  • The oil temperature sensor (5)
  • The clamp (3)
  • The bolt (4)

Retighten the bolts (6) to the correct torque (In the region of 1 to 10).

CAUTION : Check the positioning and the fixings of the electrical harness .

Clip the electrical harness (at "b").

Reconnect the 9 connectors (at "a").

Clean the contact surface ; Using a clean cloth.

Refit :

  • The hydraulic block housing (2) (equipped with a new seal)
  • The hydraulic block housing (2) bolts (1)
  • The electric harness support attached to the gearbox

Reconnect the automatic gearbox ECU connector.

Refit the engine cooling circuit pipes (depending on engine).

Couple the air union (depending on engine).

Refit :

  • The bracket of the engine cooling circuit pipes (depending on engine)
  • The starter control interface unit (depending on engine)
  • The air filter housing (depending on engine)
  • The air inlet resonator (depending on engine)
  • The air inlet neck (depending on engine)
  • The under-engine protector (depending on equipment)
  • The vehicle to its wheels

4. Parking control unlocking solenoid

4.1. Removing

Lift and support the vehicle.

Remove the under-engine protector (depending on equipment).

Drain the automatic gearbox oil .

Move aside the engine cooling system pipes (depending on engine).

Remove :

  • The electric harness support attached to the gearbox (depending on engine)
  • The hydraulic block housing (2) bolts (1)
  • The hydraulic block housing (2)

Disconnect the connector (at "c") ; Using a thin screwdriver.

Remove :

  • The bolt (10)
  • The parking control unlocking solenoid (11)

4.2. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the order of tightening and the tightening torques .

Refit :

  • The parking control unlocking solenoid (11)
  • The bolt (10)

Reconnect the connector (at "c").

Clean the contact surface ; Using a clean cloth.

Refit :

  • The hydraulic block housing (2) (equipped with a new seal)
  • The hydraulic block housing (2) bolts (1)
  • The electric harness support attached to the gearbox (depending on engine)
  • The engine cooling circuit pipes
  • The under-engine protector
  • The vehicle to its wheels

5. Additional operations

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required after reconnecting the ancillaries battery .

Reconnect the ancillaries battery .

CAUTION : Check that the gear selection control functions in all the positions.

Perform the following operations :

  • Fill and top up the automatic gearbox oil
  • The programming of the solenoid valves (If the hydraulic block is replaced)
